In the framework of the international scientific conference on “Marine plastics pollution in Vietnam: Current situation and solutions”, VNU Central Institute for Natural Resources and Environmental Studies in collaboration with Vietnam Institute of Seas and Islands – Vietnam Administration of Seas and Islands and the Institute for Tropical Technology – Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology planned to hold from November 29th to 30th, 2019. On November 28th, 2019, on the sidelines of the conference, many research exchanges and activities between VNU-CRES and partners were held to promote and strengthen international cooperation in scientific research, technology transfer and training at the headquarters of VNU-CRES, such as: The meeting between the Board of Directors and Prof. Muthusami Kumaran, University of Florida, USA to discuss and work together to develop a collaborative research program on capacity building for non-governmental organizations in Vietnam in response to climate change, disaster mitigation, rational use of resources, environmental protection, biodiversity conservation, sustainable poverty reduction and other social issues between VNU-CRES and the University of Florida ; Proposing the development of a cooperation program in researching water quality and microplastics in coastal estuaries of Vietnam with Dr. Christopher Hackney, University of Leeds, UK.

Furthermore, the University of Hull, United Kingdom, in collaboration with VNU-CRES organized a training course on filmmaking techniques and created documentary sets in field research for 20 staff by Vivien Mary Cumming and Mr. Robin Thomas Waldman on November 28th, 2019.
