This morning (August 28), at the National Exhibition Center, the opening ceremony of the exhibition “80 years of the Journey of Independence – Freedom – Happiness” took place on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and Vietnam’s National Day – September 2. VNU participated in the exhibition with many innovative scientific and technological products, affirming its pioneering role in innovation and serving the community.
Attending the event were General Secretary To Lam; Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man; and former Party and State leaders, Politburo members, Secretaries and former Secretaries of the Party Central Committee, members and former members of the Party Central Committee, leaders of departments, ministries, branches, diplomatic agencies, international organizations and enterprises.

The exhibition brings together more than 230 booths from 28 ministries, branches, 34 provinces and cities and hundreds of large enterprises, affirming the country’s position on the international stage.

In his opening speech, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that the exhibition “80 years of the Journey of Independence – Freedom – Happiness” is a special highlight, not only honoring the glorious historical journey, but also spreading patriotism, national pride, the desire to rise, and affirming Vietnam’s potential and position on the path of innovation, integration and development.
The exhibition is also a “living school”, with a harmonious combination of tradition and modernity, bringing history closer and more accessible, so that today’s generations can better understand their origins, the great sacrifices and achievements of previous generations; thereby adding motivation, inspiration, and nurturing the aspiration to bring the country firmly into a new era, an era of wealth, civilization, prosperity, and prosperity, standing shoulder to shoulder with the world powers.

At the exhibition, VNU participated by displaying various science and technology products, showcasing the convergence of intelligence, creativity, and the spirit of serving the community. In the exhibition space of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the most prominent product is the System-on-Chip (SoC) semiconductor chip for secure IoT devices and the demo system researched and developed by the Institute of Information Technology, VNU. System-on-chip (SoC) for secure IoT devices, equipped with a high-speed data encryption core compliant with the AES standard and a new-generation RISC-V microprocessor, manufactured using 65nm CMOS technology. These products can be widely applied in various fields, including e-government, smart cities, electric vehicles, security surveillance, and even accelerating AI computing with data secured during network transmission. Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son and Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Manh Hung visited, listened to the introduction, and expressed special interest in this research achievement, considering it a testament to Vietnam’s potential in science and technology in the digital age.

In parallel with the exhibition booth at the Ministry of Science and Technology space, member units of VNU also showcased many highly applicable science and technology solutions at the NG3 area in the Hanoi City exhibition space.

The product “Blife – Communication support system for people with severe motor disabilities” developed by scientists from the University of Engineering and Technology, VNU, is a technology that utilises eye movements and brain signals to help people with disabilities reconnect with society. The product enables patients to interact socially through eye contact and communicate via social networking applications, significantly improving the quality of life for individuals with limited mobility.
The product “Thermal Infrared Imaging Chip and Camera” led by the Institute of Semiconductors and Advanced Materials under the High Technology and Innovation Park in collaboration with the Nano and Energy Center under the Hanoi University of Science, VNU, can capture and process images in special conditions, serving healthcare, environment, security, defense, energy management, and stands out thanks to its ability to measure body temperature remotely and support smart disease diagnosis.

The Central Institute of Natural Resources and Environment Studies introduced a wastewater treatment model using fluidized bed granulation technology, allowing the recovery of nitrogen, phosphorus and many precious metals from wastewater, both protecting the environment and regenerating resources for industry; and displayed a family-scale RO water purifier with high impurity removal efficiency at low pressure.
The research team from the International School, VNU, showcased biomedical technology products at the exhibition, including a non-invasive diabetes measurement system and a modern blood pressure monitor. These products utilise Raman spectroscopy technology combined with machine learning algorithms, enabling patients to monitor their health without the need for blood draws conveniently.
These are typical science and technology products of VNU with the combination of 3 houses: State – School – Enterprise; at the same time, demonstrating the research and application capacity of VNU, not only aiming at core technology, strategic technology, but also directly linked to the needs of the community, from health care, environment, to social security solutions.

He emphasized that the displayed products not only demonstrate the top research capacity but also affirm the mission of serving the community, contributing to making VNU a leading center of innovation, and making practical contributions to the sustainable development of the country.

The exhibition brings together the achievements of nearly 180 sectors and fields, including industry, agriculture, trade, education, health, science and technology, as well as national defence, security, and foreign affairs, along with craft villages, OCOP products, and specialities from the three regions. Through thousands of documents, artefacts, equipment, documentary films, and modern display technologies such as 3D, virtual reality, and artificial intelligence, the exhibition vividly recreates the 80-year journey of building and developing the country, depicting the cultural traditions, creativity, and tenacious working spirit of the Vietnamese people and businesses.
The exhibition is open from 9 am to 10 pm, continuously from August 29 to September 5, with nearly 260,000 m² of indoor and outdoor exhibition space.
