Leaders of Central Institute for Natural Resources and Environmental Studies (CRES) met with Representatives from Illinois Wesleyan University (United States)
Following up previous scientific exchange activities, on March 16, 2017 afternoon, Dr. Hoang Van Thang, Director General and Dr. Vo Thanh Son, Head of Cooperation and Development Department of CRES had a meeting with Prof. Abigail R. Jahiel and Assoc. Prof. Aaron Shoults-Wilson from the International and Environmental Studies, Illinois Wesleyan University (USA) at the office of the Central Institute of Natural Resources and Environmental Studies (CRES).
Dr. Hoang Van Thang introduced the main activities of CRES in scientific research, post-graduate program in natural resources management, environmental protection, biodiversity conservation, sustainable development and climate change. The uniqueness of CRES is a financial autonomy, employing an interdisciplinary approach combining natural sciences and social sciences to serve policy making process towards sustainable development in the context of climate change.
The two professors from Illinois Wesleyan University shared their experiences in research and training in an interdisciplinary approach, especially combining university research and training in the field of natural resources management with social issues.

During the meeting, the leaders of two institutions discussed the opportunity to cooperate in organizing internships for students at Illinois Wesleyan University to enhance the understanding of international students’ understanding of Vietnam’s development practice and proposed initial ideas for future research topics.
